Expedition in the Netherlands: Evi Immel became Dutch trampolining champion at the age of 7

She is now eight years old, Evi Immel from Zuidlaren. In June, when she was still seven, she became Dutch Trampoline Jumping Champion in Rotterdam. She trains twice a week in the sports hall with her clubmates. We visit her for the child prodigies episode of Expeditie Nederland.

Her victory is special, because Evi has been trampolining for less than two years. She mainly participated in the National Championships because it was fun and to gain experience. To everyone’s surprise, she took home the gold medal.

She keeps several medals there. In fact, Evi hasn’t jumped in many competitions yet, but she did take home a medal every time. Yet it is not all about Evi’s sport at home. Father Erik says that she is mainly an eight-year-old girl who goes to her sports. “Above all, it should remain fun. But now that she has won a few times, she wants more. And you can also see her developing in her jumps.”

Evi’s championship is contagious, because several members of the gym club have their sights set on a championship. Trainer Ellen also sees that the extra attention for Evi benefits everyone. “The other children now also think: could I achieve that too? It motivates them.”

Evi herself has also got a taste for it and is already dreaming of more. You can see what that is in the report.
