Medvedev became the global number 1 two months ago after Djokovic had been at the top for two years, but missed participation in the Australian Open due to refusing a corona vaccine. After an early elimination at Indian Wells, Medvedev lost so many points that he had to relinquish his lead.

Koolhof to double final after exciting match

Wesley Koolhof has qualified for the final together with his doubles partner. The Dutchman was too strong for the Italian duo Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini in the semifinals of the masters tournament with the British Neal Skupski: 6-1 3-6 10-5.

In the final, Koolhof and Skupski will face the winners of the match between Australians Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis and the Polish/American combination Hubert Hurkacz and John Isner.

The 32-year-old Koolhof is the number 17 in the world in doubles. With Skupski he already won three titles this year: in Adelaide, Melbourne and Doha. In total, Koolhof is on ten ATP titles.
