Exhibition Oranges in Velsen: “Maxima is less stiff than the other members of the Royal House”

In the IJmuider Zee- en Havenmuseum there is an exhibition in which photographs of the various visits of members of the royal family to Velsen are shown criss-cross through time. From the visit of King Willem III in 1876 at the opening of the North Sea Canal to the last visit of King Willem Alexander in 2022 at the opening of Zeesluis IJmuiden. In addition, Queen Willemina, Queen Juliana and Queen Beatrix, among others, have visited the IJmond several times. But why do the Oranjes have such a warm relationship with the IJmond? Reporter Koen Bugter finds out in the video above.
