After more than eight years at the textile discounter NKD, Executive Chairman Ulrich Hanfeld is saying goodbye.
Hanfeld announced his resignation on Tuesday on the career network Linkedin. It was a great honor and pleasure for him to lead the NKD Group first as CEO and then in the role of Executive Chairman, but it was the right time to try something new again, he wrote in a post.
The role of Executive Chairman at Pegasus Group Holding GmbH, the parent company of the NKD Group, was created for then-CEO Hanfeld at the beginning of 2022 when Alexander Schmökel was appointed Managing Director of the textile discounter. In the role created for him at the parent company, Hanfeld was responsible for the strategic corporate development and growth of NKD.
“I am proud that the NKD Group has established itself as a relevant player in the European retail market,” said Handled. “Through organic growth and a successful portfolio expansion, we have sustainably increased our sales and profitability since 2015. Today, NKD is in a strong position as a ‘data-driven’ value discounter despite the external turmoil of recent years.”
Farewell to Hanfeld does not change anything at the top of NKD. In the future, the textile discounter will continue to be led by the three-person board of CEO Alexander Schmökel, Christian Welles (CSO) and Nils Bolender (CFO). The latter joined the company in October after CFO Stefan Macheleidt left the company in mid-September.
