Exclusive look behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil in Knokke-Heist

The performances of the new show ‘Kurios: cabinet of curiosities’ by Cirque du Soleil will start next Thursday in Knokke-Heist. Now the artists rehearse to perform everything to perfection.

A gymnast’s jump may look simple, but make no mistake: behind every act there is a heavy preparation. From the first choreography idea to the last details, and then endless practice.

Top sport, but without medals. “It’s more pleasant here. We remain top athletes, but that level of competition is gone. You work in an environment where everyone wants to improve and support each other,” says acrobat Tomas Thys.

Any Belgian

Tomas is the only Belgian in the group. He is one of seven members of a brand new act, on the acronet. “That can only be found in this show and does not exist anywhere else in the world. It is a very large net, where we jump with seven people. Some fly up to twelve meters in the air.”
