It has not yet been confirmed that the 2025 Radsport World Cup in Rwanda will once again be a duel between Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard. If it is after a former professional, the Dane prefers to save the trip to Africa because he has no chance against Pogacar anyway.

There is a lot to say that Jonas Vingegaard will take part in the Radsport World Cup for the first time this year in his career. Denmark’s team fully relies on the two-time tour winner, who has still not officially confirmed his start in Rwanda.

The French ex-professional Stéphane Rossetto is firmly convinced that Vingegaard should rather think about a start in Kigali. In his eyes he would not have a chance against Tadej Pogacar.

Ex-professional: Vingegaard cannot exist in one-day races

“Pogacar would destroy him in a one-day race,” said Rossetto in the “Bistrot Vélo” podcast. “The World Cup or the Lombardy tour are not the first stage of the Tour de France,” he sees former drivers.

“One-day races are not like stages in large tours. The World Cup race in Kigali will be over 250 kilometers long. That is six or seven hours on the bike. This is a completely different sport. Vingegaard is not used to this kind,” Rossetto explained his assessment.

If it is after the French, Pogacar is one of very few drivers who can master the balancing act between one-day races and large tours. Vingegaard, according to Rossetto, cannot.

“I saw what happens to drivers who take this step. He [Vingegaard] Is none of the few drivers who can do both. I will bet against him at the World Cup, “said the Frenchman about a possible showdown between the two best tourists in the world.
