The organizers of the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding (January 10 to January 14, 2024) are expecting even more excitement next winter. Background: an innovation in the schedule of the event.
In contrast to previous years, the relay races in the “Wimbledon of Biathlon” are held directly on the first two days of competition and only then are sprints, pursuers and individuals – a “special treat”, as the organizers emphasized in a press release.
“Exciting fights for the podium places are guaranteed right from the start,” says the statement, in which the organizers pointed out that advance sales for the World Cup would start on Tuesday and promised the fans “again incomparable biathlon experiences”.
“The past World Cup was a great success under difficult conditions. But we also take the few points of criticism from the previous year, such as the shuttle service that didn’t always work perfectly, seriously and are already making small adjustments,” said Ruhpolding’s OC President Hermann Hipf.
Timo Gerhold, Managing Director of the Chiemgau Arena, added: “The support of our many hundred volunteers, who are part of our big biathlon family and without whom the World Cup would be unthinkable, is particularly important to us.”
