The ground was strewn with shards, picnic tables and chairs gathered, smashed into a heap. Sauces and food leftovers smeared the cycle path, where a few hours earlier about fifty people raised a toast to the future of their skating club De Kom. Followed by what was supposed to be a cozy barbecue among members, relatives but also neighbors, the party turned into a true drama around 6 pm. Six people were killed after a Spanish truck driver came out of nowhere and drove into about twenty people, who were chatting at the barbecue.
