On the first day of the European Champions Cup, HCAW recorded an easy win against Rouen Huskies. For Amsterdam Pirates, the baseball-tournament started less pleasantly with a loss.
In Group A, Amsterdam Pirates started the European Cup with a 4-3 loss against Draci Brno. In Amsterdam, the visitors from the Czech Republic quickly took a 2-0 lead, but in the eighth inning, the team from Amsterdam fought their way back into the game. However, Draci Brno came out on top in the last and ninth inning. Amsterdam Pirates can take revenge again tonight. That is allowed against defending champion Parma. The first pitch will be thrown in Amsterdam at 7:30 PM. Tomorrow evening Paderborner Untouchables will be the opponent in the last game of group A.
HCAW
HCAW did a lot better. At its home field in Bussum, coach Danny Rombley’s baseball team defeated the French Rouen Huskies with convincing numbers, 18-5. The next game for the Bussummers in group B is scheduled for tonight. Again in Bussum at 7 pm against Arrows Astrava. And tomorrow night is the last group game against Bonn Capitals.
The European Champions Cup lasts until Saturday.
