The long wait is now really over, because today graduation students from vmbo-t, havo and vwo finally get the redeeming phone call. And that also applies to Bart (17) from Hippolytushoef. After a short night’s sleep, he anxiously awaits his mentor’s call.
Today is an exciting day for hundreds of students from the Noordkop. The exams have been checked and the grades are known, so each student is personally called by the mentor. Bart is also anxiously waiting. After six years at the Wiringherlant in Wieringerwerf, he thinks it has been nice there. He wants to start with the study where his real passion lies: the history course at the University of Amsterdam.
He can be called from two o’clock in the afternoon and there will be no long wait. It’s barely two o’clock when his phone starts ringing. “You passed,” his mentor tells over the phone. Bart can’t quite believe it when he hangs up the phone. “But I’m really relieved,” he says.

Party
After the flag has been raised, it’s time for champagne. Also for Tjeerdtje, Bart’s mother, a great burden is lifted from her shoulders. It didn’t always come naturally. “I’m really relieved and happy that he can continue,” she says. After the champagne, Bart can get ready to go to school and sign the list of marks. And then: “We’re going to have a party,” says Bart.
Resit
Unfortunately, not every student receives a positive call and there will be students who have to repeat one or more subjects. Those repeaters have to get back to work quickly. The re-examinations are already on the program from 13 June.
For students of VMBO framework and basis, it is still waiting for their results. They don’t get it until a week later.
