Former world champion Nicole Schmidhofer puts her skis in the corner.
The 34-year-old Austrian, who won gold in the Super-G in St. Moritz in 2017, will contest her last race at the World Cup finals in Soldeu/Andorra on Thursday. Schmidhofer would like to remain in skiing in another capacity.
She was “no longer willing to go to the limit”, the four-time World Cup winner justified her farewell. Schmidhofer tore all the ligaments in his left knee in December 2020. The injury “left more marks than expected,” she emphasized.
Schmidhofer, who won the downhill World Cup in 2019, now wants to complete her training as a rehabilitation trainer.
“With Nicole, the Austrian Ski Association loses an extraordinary personality, a team leader and a woman who is also known for her ability to think outside the box,” said ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober.
