Ozan Kökcü made the transition from Telstar to FC Eindhoven just before the start of the competition. Last night, the creative football player from Haarlem scored his first goal for his new club. It also turned out to be the winning goal against Jong AZ. “It’s about the three points and I’m happy to help the team.”
“I’m doing very well. Everyone has received me well here. Both the trainer and the players,” says the 24-year-old attacker about his first weeks in North Brabant. “I am really happy with my transition. The trainer gives me the opportunity to start in the base. It takes some getting used to because of the different playing style.”
Kökcü played more than fifty games for the club in his two years with Telstar. Trainer Mike Snoei really wanted Kökcü to join the White Lions on board, but the footballer himself wanted to move up. “I went to the trainer and to people within the club. I convinced the trainer that I wanted to make the switch. I got a very good feeling at Eindhoven. It clicked immediately,” said Kökcü.
Takes too long
In the end, Kökcü signed with his new club two days before Telstar’s competition start. Kökcü: “I was very honest about that. It took a very long time. Too long in my opinion. Fortunately, it all worked out in the end.”
With FC Eindhoven, Kökcü is working on a great start to the season. The number three of last season in the first division still has the full twelve points after four games and is joint leader with PEC Zwolle.
