The “Wheel of Fortune” fairy and ex-jungle queen Maren Gilzer is not in the runoff election for the election of the mayor in Oberkrämer in Brandenburg.
According to the preliminary result, the 61-year-old received 6.1 percent of the votes, as the independent community in the district of Oberhavel announced on the website on Sunday evening. The 54-year-old police officer Wolfgang Geppert (BVB/free voters) received 32.7 percent of the votes, the 32-year-old lawyer and deputy mayor Carolin Schmiel (Bürger für Oberkrämer/BfO) got 25.5 percent. This puts you in the run-off election on February 13.
Gilzer had applied for the post for the FDP. The 61-year-old became known in the 1990s as “letter fairy” in the Sat.1 program “Glücksrad”. In 2015 she was voted Queen of the Jungle by viewers on the RTL reality show “I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here”.

Mayor Peter Leys (BfürO) is retiring on March 1 after around 14 years in office. The municipality of Oberkrämer is an amalgamation of seven villages with around 12,000 inhabitants. Voter turnout was 49.3 percent.
