As the broadcaster RMC Sport reported, it is about Platini’s long-standing allegation that Infantino betrayed him when he applied to be FIFA boss in 2016 and that he was the victim of a conspiracy.
Platini announced that Infantino had already been reported to the Paris public prosecutor’s office last November for “active influence”.
Multi-year ban
Specifically, Platini criticizes a secret meeting between the Swiss Infantino and the former Swiss federal prosecutor Michael Lauber during ongoing investigations into the world football association FIFA.
Platini, former president of the European Football Union (UEFA), was banned from all football activities for several years, like then-FIFA President Sepp Blatter in 2015. The reason was a dubious payment of two million Swiss francs that Platini received from Blatter in 2011. Platini says he had a large majority back in 2016 for his bid to head FIFA. Infantino thwarted this.
