Former tennis star Maria Sharapova becomes a mother for the first time.
The five-time Grand Slam winner and former world number one made her pregnancy public on her 35th birthday.
“Precious beginnings. Eating birthday cake for two has always been my specialty,” the Russian wrote along with a photo on Instagram, where she appeared happily on the beach with a small baby bump.
Sharapova announced her engagement to British businessman and millionaire Alexander Gilkes in December 2020.
