Ex-Sparta and PSV goalkeeper scares his coach when he deliberately lets a free kick into the goal | Foreign football

A bizarre scene in the Brazilian football competition. Corinthians goalkeeper Cassio Ramos (36) deliberately let a free kick into the goal, to the astonishment of the spectators and his coach. However, there was no talk of match fixing, because the ex-Sparta and PSV goalkeeper knew very well what he was doing.

Cassio had an excellent overview of them when he stepped aside after a free kick fifteen minutes before the end during the match against Atlético Mineiro when the score was 1-1. Almost everyone in the stadium thinks that the experienced goalkeeper will simply give away a goal with his striking maneuver.

However, Cassio turns out not to be a saboteur, but a very strong expert on the rules of the game. After all, Atlético Mineiro had been awarded an indirect free kick. The referee also made this clear by raising his hand before the free kick could be taken. And then direct scoring is not allowed.

Since the Mineiro player’s free kick was not touched by anyone else, Cassio did well to let the ball go into the goal. Without contact from another player, the goal did not count and so Cassio was allowed to resume the game with a goal kick.

Not everyone noticed this quickly, because some Atlético Mineiro players already started cheering because they thought they had been given a goal. And Mano Menzes, the coach of Corinthians, was also shocked by his goalkeeper’s action, as he showed when he came into the picture laughing with his hand on his heart. Whether Cassio doesn’t want to scare him like that again. The goalkeeper did not do that either, as the final score was 1-1.
