Ex-NFL star Robert Griffin storms out of live broadcast

The Fiesta Bowl, the semifinals of the college championship, between the Michigan Wolverins and the TCU Horned Frogs brought an absolute spectacle to football fans on New Year’s Eve. Outsider TCU was able to win the game with 51:45. During the broadcast, former NFL star Robert Griffin III provided a zany moment that was in no way inferior to the spectacle on the field.

In the middle of the third quarter, the former quarterback suddenly had a phone in his hand. “Really?” one heard Griffin say, who suddenly said goodbye to his colleagues from “ESPN” and left the interior in a hurry. “Sorry guys, I have to go, my wife is in labour,” Griffin said before leaving the scene in the sprint.

Griffin later announced on “Twitter” that their third child was still a long time coming. “Our baby has decided it’s not time to come out after all. (…) Baby Girl must have known Mommy and Daddy have never spent a New Year’s Eve apart,” was the 32-year-old’s explanation.

Promising NFL talent

Griffin had already attracted attention in college as a quarterback at Baylor University. In 2011 he picked up the Heisman Trophy for the best collegiate player of the year and entered the 2012 NFL draft with it.

There, the Washington Redskins picked him second, trading three first-round picks and one second-round pick. An expensive deal, then, that Washington made with the St. Louis Rams (now the LA Rams).

“RG3” spent three years of his career with the Redskins (now the Washington Commanders) and mainly delivered in his rookie season. At the end of this season, however, injury worries began and so Griffin had to undergo, among other things, cruciate ligament surgery.

Injuries have always been an issue in his short career and so he hasn’t really had a chance in recent years. In January 2021, his last team, the Baltimore Ravens, parted ways with Griffin after he only made two appearances in three years. Griffin has not officially ended his career yet.
