Ex-news anchor Aino Huilaja lived for two years without her own toilet – This is how things were done

Aino Huilaja travels around Europe with her husband in a van.

In addition to doing business in the toilet, taking a shower also requires its own special equipment. Over

Van life Van Life ex-news anchor in the series The only Huilaja live a social dream on TV2 today – but before that, one less pleasant task has to be done.

– This is the van life dream. The most glamorous job of all: emptying the toilet, Huilaja states laconically and means exactly the opposite.

Toilet issues have been featured in the series before too. Huilaja and his photographer spouse Jerry Ylkänen were the first couple of years of packing without their own toilet. The matter came up with other people as well.

– The toilet job definitely raises the most questions in people when talking about packing. “Where do you use the bathroom?” The piper often repeats the question put to him.

– After all, we have wondered about it ourselves on quite a few mornings, Ylkänen reminds us.

At the end of a long day, the evening meal consists of partly Spanish and partly Italian dishes. Over

Before getting their own potty, the couple always first thing in the morning found out where to find an open gas station or cafe with a toilet. Then you had to think about how much coffee you have to buy, to dare to go to the bathroom.

In retrospect, Ylkänen wonders how it took so long to purchase a separate toilet. Huilaja has the answer ready.

– To me, the thought of carrying a toilet and its contents in a car was disgusting. I thought it would smell and be difficult to empty.

Emptying may be unpleasant, but it is not particularly difficult.

– Service stations can be found quite well in Europe, Huilaja praises the number of emptying places.

There are plenty of different user manuals for the technical side of the toilet, such as stacking, and proper instructions are also given on how to empty it. But that’s the end of the guide.

– Then suddenly there is no video of how it is actually used when an emergency strikes, Huilaja says.

– And we’re not doing that either, Ylkänen points out from behind the camera.

In the Dolomites, you can take wonderful scenery – but no toilet pictures. Over
