Ex-Moto2 driver Marcel Schrötter still needs time after moving to the Supersport World Championship

After switching to the Supersport World Championship, ex-Moto2 driver Marcel Schrötter will start the opening weekend at Phillip Island in Australia with restraint.

“The changeover will take even more time. Even if there is still some catching up to do, I’m glad that the races are starting,” said the 30-year-old from Vilgertshofen.

Schrötter left the Moto2 world championship and now drives for the MV Agusta Reparto Corse team in the world championship for near-series machines.

Ex-Moto2 driver Schrötter needs “more laps”

“The MV Agusta is not easy to drive,” says Schrötter, and the tires are a completely different world.” He definitely needs “more laps, because our preparation wasn’t exactly extensive.”

For the Upper Bavarian, the main thing is to adapt to the new conditions. “I am sure that we will make further steps over the course of the weekend,” said Schrötter, “the races will definitely help us to improve bit by bit. Getting the maximum out of it is the primary goal, especially since the season is very long.”

After ten years and 181 races in Moto2, Schrötter has entered the less important Supersport World Championship. The first race is on Saturday and the second on Sunday (both 4:30 a.m. CET).
