Ex-HSV professional Tatsuya Ito will remain at 1. FC Magdeburg for another year

option drawn

Tatsuya Ito stays at 1. FC Magdeburg for another year. This was announced by the third division champions on Thursday. The 24-year-old left winger, who was loaned out from VV St. Truiden last second half of the season, still has a contract with his regular club until 2024. However, an option for a further year was anchored in the loan contract with FCM, which the club has now drawn.

“With us, Tatsuya has blossomed again. He really enjoys the football we play. Because of his speed, flexibility and strength in dribbling, he is enormously important for us,” explained sporting director Otmar Schork. Coach Christian Titz, who knew Ito from their time together at HSV, added: “Tatsuya has an enormous ability to solve one-on-one situations in a very small space. That’s why he’s an important element for our game, especially against deep opponents.”

After his move at the end of January, Ito did not miss a game and contributed three goals and four assists in 16 appearances. In a total of 44 games under Titz for Hamburg and Magdeburg, he has contributed 19 goals. In St. Truiden, where Ito switched from the “Rothosen” in 2019 for a fee of 1.5 million euros, he was not able to assert himself on sight.
