After leaving Berlin
Stevan Jovetic (33) found a new club after leaving Hertha. The striker, whose contract in Berlin expired after being relegated to the Bundesliga, is moving to Olympiacos Piraeus on a free transfer. The contract for the recently started season, i.e. until summer 2024, should be valid for the Greek series champions, who were dethroned last season.
Jovetic had played 40 competitive games for Hertha since 2021 and contributed eleven goals. The former Manchester City professional, who has earned transfer revenues of more than 60 million euros in his career, also came to the capital on a free transfer. Over time, his market value at the then Bundesliga club had fallen by 70 percent to currently EUR 1.5 million.
In addition to Jovetic, Olympiakos also presented Daniel Podence, who is returning to his old place of work on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. In Piraeus, the 27-year-old winger was under contract for a year and a half from 2018 and brought the club a significant profit in January 2020 after a purchase fee of 7 million euros and a sale price of 19.6 million euros. Now the Portuguese returns as the new most valuable Player in squad returned to Olympiakos for one season. In Greece, the summer transfer window is open until September 11th.
