Schalke were also interested
Central defender Christopher Jullien, who used to play for SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga, is leaving the traditional Scottish club Celtic Glasgow after three years and moving to France. The 29-year-old signed a contract with Montpellier HSC until 2025, the fee is said to be 1 million euros.
For the right foot, the Ligue 1 club is the sixth professional station overall. The AJ Auxerre-trained Frenchman has made 62 appearances for the Scots over the past three years, scoring 10 goals after his €8m transfer from Toulouse to Celtic in 2019. FC Schalke 04 was also interested in the services of the 1.96 meter giant in the current transfer summer, but a transfer failed on the home straight. In Gelsenkirchen, Jullien was intended as a replacement for Ko Itakura, a loan player who had moved to Mönchengladbach. S04 were unable to raise the funds to retain him.
Christopher Jullien has joined @MontpellierHSC on a permanent deal.
