The former Frankfurt Jesper Lindstrøm is back in the Bundesliga. For him it goes from SSC Naples to VfL Wolfsburg. The 25 -year -old Dane moves to the Autostadt for one season on a rental basis and can be firmly committed by purchase option for 12 million euros plus bonuses. The rental fee should be 1.5 million euros.
Lindstrøm had left the German Oberhaus in the summer of 2023 Gen Naples. Eintracht Frankfurt collected 30 million euros for him and thus one of the highest replacement of the club’s history. In his first season, Lindstrøm completed 29 games for the Partenopei, but only over 587 minutes. This was followed by a loan to the Everton FC, where the season increased, but only two goal participations in 30 missions, so that the purchase option of EUR 22.5 million was not activated. Its market value has dropped from 30 million to 18 million euros in the past two years. So he is Wolfsburg’s most valuable newcomer this summer.
“Jesper has experiences in the Bundesliga and on an international level. With him we gain a dynamic and very flexible player who can fill out almost all positions in midfield. We are pleased that he is already part of our group and will work with the team in the training camp,” said sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz.
With Lindstrøm, VfL’s transfer expenses increase to EUR 38.7 million this summer. Previously, Vini Souza (Sheffield), Aaron tenth (Paderborn) and Jakub Zielinski (Legia), Mohamed Amoura (Union SG) and Denis Vavro (Copenhagen) were also committed after a previous loan. Only three Bundesliga clubs paid more money for new players this summer. Lindstrøm played 80 games at the SGE in two years and contributed 14 goals and templates. He also won the Europa League with the 2022 club.
