The Austrian Oliver Glasner is the new coach of the English football club Crystal Palace. Table 17. The Premier League announced the signing of the former coach of Eintracht Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg on Monday evening, a few hours before the game against FC Everton. Roy Hodgson had recently resigned from his position. British media had already reported last week about Glasner’s upcoming engagement.

The 49-year-old, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and had been without a club since the split in the summer of 2023, signed a contract in south London until the summer of 2026. “Wherever Oliver went in his coaching career so far, success came quickly,” said Palace boss Steve Parish, “and we believe his ambition, exciting and attacking approach is perfect for getting the best out of our talented young squad this Premier League season and beyond.”

The 76-year-old Hodgson managed Crystal Palace from 2017 to 2021 and took over the team again in March 2023, originally only as an interim solution until the summer. Then he signed for another season. He understands that due to recent circumstances it may be advisable for the club to plan ahead. He therefore made the decision to resign so that the club can move forward with its plans for a new manager, Hodgson explained in the club’s announcement.

The former England coach has recently had health problems and had to be hospitalized during training last week. “The club can confirm that Roy has been discharged from hospital and is doing well,” Crystal Palace’s website said on Monday.
