The 76-year-old Hodgson managed Crystal Palace from 2017 to 2021 and took over the team again in March 2023, originally only as an interim solution until the summer. Then he signed for another season. He understands that due to recent circumstances it may be advisable for the club to plan ahead. He therefore made the decision to resign so that the club can move forward with its plans for a new manager, Hodgson explained in the club’s announcement.
The former England coach has recently had health problems and had to be hospitalized during training last week. “The club can confirm that Roy has been discharged from hospital and is doing well,” Crystal Palace’s website said on Monday.
