Former Formula 1 driver Nicholas Latifi turned his back on motorsport at the age of just 28 and began studying at the renowned London Business School.
“This decision will come as a surprise to many. Switching to another racing series seemed like an obvious decision,” wrote the Canadian on Twitter and Instagram.
But he decided against it, reasoning: “I always knew there would be a career after that and I’ve decided that now is a good time to prepare for it.”
Last driver for Williams
Latifi drove in Formula 1 for three years, but did not get a new contract with the Williams racing team at the end of last year. He scored a total of nine championship points in 61 races and largely withdrew from the public eye after his retirement from the premier class of motorsport.
In August he will now start in London as a student in Business Administration and focus on the economy, he only follows Formula 1 from afar. “I haven’t missed a race this season,” wrote Latifi, who probably can’t quite imagine life without fast cars in the long run. “It’s not necessarily the end of motorsport forever,” he wrote.
