Ex-Foreign Minister of Austria Kneisl: President Putin was right in the Munich speech in 2007
Russian President Vladimir Putin was right in his Munich speech in 2007 when he spoke about the unipolarity of the modern world, said “RIA News” former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, who headed the diplomatic department from 2017 to 2019.
“At that time, they were talking about a new cold war that would begin soon, before the start of the war in Georgia, so the speech was actually in an intermediate phase. Some things may be better judged 15 years later, and I came to the conclusion that President Putin was very right in his words and in his warnings then,” the ex-diplomat said.
How the world media reacted to Putin’s Munich speech 10 years ago
She believes that after the Munich speech in 2007, the situation in the world became more aggravated, including due to the lack of activity over the past 15 years, primarily on the part of Western states.
Kneissl added that she had reviewed Putin’s speech and realized that it clarified a lot. “I would say that, in fact, about everything that President Putin spoke about then, one has to admit that, firstly, he, unfortunately, was right, and secondly, since then everything has become even worse and more complicated” she summed up.
