Inter offer rejected
“That’s not how you treat important players, you don’t wait until the last moment. That’s also part of the truth, you should know that,” said Ivan Perisic about two weeks ago, shortly after he scored two goals in extra time against Juventus for Inter Milan to win the cup. The anger of the 33-year-old winger erupted because of the unresolved situation at the time about his expiring contract. Inter had always been optimistic about an extension, with coach Simone Inzaghi publicly calling for it. But she probably won’t come. According to consistent reports of the “Guardians“ and from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio Perisic faces a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The “Spurs” are said to offer the Croatian runner-up a two-year contract that fulfills all his expectations – not so Inter, where he is said to have rejected the concrete offer that finally came. At Tottenham, Perisic would be reunited with manager Antonio Conte, with whom he had clinched the Scudetto with Inter the previous year.
The veteran doesn’t actually fit what Tottenham boss Daniel Levy basically imagines when it comes to reinforcements – younger players with development potential to not only be successful in the short term – but Conte was given a free hand in the commitment, writes Fabrizio Romano for the Guardians. The Italian coach led the Londoners into the Champions League after taking over from Nuno Espírito Santo at the beginning of November, who had failed to get the season started. As part of a capital increase, Tottenham recently generated fresh around 177 million euros, some of which are also intended for the transfer market.
With the upcoming departure, the Inter chapter closes for Perisic after seven years at the club. In 2015, the Nerazzurri had signed him from Wolfsburg for 19 million euros, he was only on loan in Conte’s first season 2019/20, winning the treble with FC Bayern. The following year he was one of the top performers in the race for the first championship since 2010 and was one of the strongest Inter professionals this year. In 49 competitive games he scored ten goals and nine assists. The Lombards already anticipated a possible departure in January when they signed DFB international Robin Gosens (27) from Atalanta.
