It is still unclear whether Erling Haaland will leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer or another season for the black and yellow team. In the event of the superstar’s departure, BVB has apparently targeted two potential successors.
According to “Sport Bild”, Borussia Dortmund is working on a plan B in the background. According to this, Sébastien Haller from Ajax Amsterdam is a hot candidate for the possible Haaland legacy. “Calciomercato” had already speculated about the interest in October.
Haller knows the Bundesliga from his time at Eintracht Frankfurt. Between 2017 and 2019, the 27-year-old played in a total of 77 competitive games and won the DFB Cup with the SGE in 2018.
Haller has scored 20 goals in 23 competitive games in the current season. Ten of them in the group stage of the Champions League. This makes the Ivorian top scorer in the premier class.
According to “Sport Bild”, a move to BVB is “attractive” for Haller. Three years ago, when the striker was still playing for SGE, there was contact with Dortmund. The Revierklub decided against Haller at the time. A new venture could be made in the summer.
However, Haller’s contract with Ajax is dated until 2025, the transfer fee is over 40 million euros.
Will Schick move from Leverkusen to BVB?
Another candidate for a striker at BVB is Patrik Schick from Bayer Leverkusen. According to the report, Dortmund scouted the Czechs years ago. The portal “fichajes.net” recently reported that Schick appeared on the BVB radar.
Schick is playing big in the current Bundesliga season. He was able to achieve 16 goals in the first half of the season. Only Robert Lewandowski from FC Bayern scored more often (19 times).
Schick moved from AS Roma to the Werkself in summer 2020. The Leverkusen-based company spent a proud 26.5 million euros on the transfer. His contract with Bayer is dated until 2025. According to “Sport Bild”, a Schick commitment would be even more expensive than Haller’s.
