Ex-DFB star sharply criticizes expert advice

Former national player Tabea Kemme has sharply criticized the German Football Association (DFB) for putting together the expert council.

“Diversity at it’s best,” the 30-year-old commented ironically on the panel, which only consisted of men, in an interview with the “t-online” news portal. In addition, Kemme criticized the way the problem was solved: “It is a gross foul to look for the solution of the system in the system.”

National player Almuth Schult also sees the DFB on the wrong track in this matter. “I can’t understand that you don’t look at diversity,” said the goalkeeper on Tuesday evening on “ARD”: “Because it’s also about setting up the DFB in a promising way. The sports director is responsible for the youth, for the women, for the academy – I find it very critical to set up this body.”

Ex-national player would have liked outside help

Ex-national player Clemens Fritz could also have imagined input from outside when putting together the expert council. “Of course you could have asked yourself whether it is right to only take football experts,” said Werder Bremen’s head of professional football.

Fritz thinks it makes sense to “get input or expertise from another area,” he said, but admitted that he was “far away” from the topic and had “not followed it so intensively in the last few days”.

On Tuesday, the DFB had just announced the establishment of a prominent panel of experts, the association reacting to the World Cup debacle of the national team and the departure of managing director Oliver Bierhoff.

The advisory group includes Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Matthias Sammer, Oliver Mintzlaff, Oliver Kahn and Rudi Völler, together they should support the DFB in overcoming the crisis.
