Ex-colleague defends Cristiano Ronaldo against allegations

Is Cristiano Ronaldo bad for the climate inside the Manchester United dressing room? A former team-mate of the Portuguese superstar doesn’t think so.

What hasn’t been written about Cristiano Ronaldo lately: due to his desire to change, he is said to have caused unrest in the dressing room, it was said that he was completely isolated from the team. He eats alone in the canteen, and there are hardly any conversations with his colleagues, according to the English media.

Ben Foster, who Ronaldo partnered with in the Portuguese’s first spell at Manchester United between 2007 and 2009, can’t believe the reports of CR7. “No, never. To be honest, he was totally harmonious. He was never disruptive, never. I would never say a bad word about him,” said the former United reserve keeper on “Talksport”.

“Ronaldo spoke to the people. He was a little bit more capable and tried to integrate into the team and laugh and so on, but he was never disruptive. Never,” the 39-year-old looked back and added: “I guarantee he won’t be a riot in the dressing room or a troublemaker.”

Foster: Ronaldo is amazing

The 37-year-old is “super professional” and “did everything right,” everyone knows, Foster asserted. “I guarantee that’s the case now.”

All the stories about CR7 would only be knitted by the media to create unrest. Quite successfully, as Foster suspected. “His colleagues read that and then they may behave differently towards him,” explained the former goalkeeper. Ronaldo himself recently described the rumors about him as “lies”.

The fact that the attacker – unlike himself, who is currently without a club after leaving Watford FC – is still able to play at the highest level impresses the ex-colleague. “If you look at his pictures on Instagram, he’s totally fit, it’s amazing!” said Foster, who after his time in Manchester was still active at West Brom, Birmingham City and Watford.
