Jude Bellingham has switched from Bundesliga runners-up BVB to Real Madrid. The young Englishman apparently made a big impression on his new employer in no time at all.
Real Madrid are already smitten with Jude Bellingham, reports Joaquín Maroto, deputy editor of Spanish newspaper AS. “In Madrid they are already saying: since Zinedine Zidane, such a midfielder has not come to the club,” Maroto claims to have learned.
A quite astonishing statement, since the club, which is so successful, has been steered in midfield by players like Luka Modric or Toni Kroos for years. In addition, Jude Bellingham has not yet played a competitive game for the Royals, the ex-Borussian only started the pre-season with his new colleagues on Monday.
According to the first impressions, however, it is obvious that the former BVB professional has the same playful class that Zidane once distinguished, according to Maroto. Internally, this opinion is already widespread in the coaching team.
Superstars in competition at Real Madrid
The fact that Jude Bellingham does not shy away from comparison with the Real icon was already emphasized by the newcomer when he was presented in the Spanish capital. Zidane has always been a “role model” for him, after consultation with his new team-mate Jesús Vallejo, when he signed the contract he got the coveted jersey with the number five – which the French world champion of 1998 had once worn.
It remains to be seen how Bellingham will be used in the 4-3-3 system preferred by Real coach Carlo Ancelotti. It is clear, however, that the newcomer must first face a great deal of competition.
In addition to the old stars Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, who have each extended until 2024, the Italian also has the French talents Aurélien Tchouaméni (23) and Eduardo Camavinga (20) at their disposal.
