With 17 goals, Harry Kane has already scored more times in the Bundesliga than top scorers Niclas Füllkrug and Christopher Nkunku last season – and that in just eleven games. So it’s no wonder that ex-professional Jürgen Kohler is enthused about FC Bayern’s record purchase.
“I knew him from England, I also knew that he scored a lot of goals in England – but I am simply impressed by his nature, his modesty, his humility,” the 1990 world champion revealed to “SID” on the occasion of his induction into the Hall of Fame of the German Football Museum in Dortmund.
FC Bayern transferred around 95 million euros to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer after a tough transfer game in order to bring Kane to Munich.
Since then, the captain of the English national team has literally taken the record champions by storm. Kane acts as a role model both on and off the pitch.
“And I think you see that in every one of his actions, including how he deals with opponents and how he deals with his own teammates,” emphasized Kohler: “That’s extraordinary and of course Bayern Munich have landed a top athlete .”
FC Bayern: Kane wants to break Lewandowski’s record
Kane is a real cash cow for FC Bayern. In the first weekend after his signing alone, 20,000 (!) jerseys with his name were sold, reported CFO Michael Diederich at the annual general meeting last Sunday.
In the coming months, Kane will also set his sights on the incredible Bundesliga record of his Munich predecessor Robert Lewandowski.
The 30-year-old noted after the recent 4-2 home win against 1. FC Heidenheim that his record of 41 goals is “still a bit far away”: “But when we get to April and close to the end of the season, then it’s certainly something I’m trying to achieve.”
