The former Bundesliga coach Michael Oenning will work as an assistant coach in Iran in the future.
According to the state news agency “IRNA”, the 59-year-old signed a one-year contract with Persepolis Tehran and is intended to support the new chief coach and ex-Bundesliga player Vahid Hashemian. The aim is to lead the record champions back to the top of the domestic prime minister.
Oenning had once trained 1st FC Nürnberg and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga, most recently he was employed at the Austrian Club Wacker Innsbruck in 2022.
Hashemian, who once had the nickname “helicopter” in the Bundesliga because of his header strength, had already played for Persepolis. In Germany he was active for HSV, VfL Bochum, Bayern Munich and Hannover 96.
