Ex-BTSV defender changes to league competitor

At Eintracht Braunschweig, he ended last summer. Defender Hasan Kuruçay has now found a new job – with the competition.
The 27-year-old signed a contract on Schalke until 2027. Most recently, the defensive player for the Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven. However, his contract there ended at the end of the season. Schalke 04 therefore does not cost the Kuruçay transfer.
Youri Mulder, director of professional football, is happy about the deal that came about: “With Hasan, we hire a duel -strong central defender with a clear body language,” he says. “He also feels very comfortable as a right foot on the left central defender position and knows the 2nd Bundesliga. He suits us with this overall package.”
The defender had stopped in Braunschweig from January 2023 to September 2024. During his time at Eintracht, he played 44 competitive games in which he contributed four goals and two templates. Most recently, he kept fit in his hometown near Odense BK. The data portal “Transfermarkt.de” estimates its current market value at 1.3 million euros.
Kuruçay refers to “very good conversations” with the Schalke those responsible on the way to the transfer. “In my experience from the 2nd Bundesliga and the Schalke Arena, it was clear to me that I wanted to play here,” said the defender.
