Alec Jon Such is dead. The former Bon Jovi bass player died on Sunday (June 5) at the age of 70. The cause of death has not yet been announced. The ex-colleagues are shocked, as they announced on social media.
Bon Jovi emphasize the importance the New Yorker held for them. “He was a true original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was instrumental in the group’s formation. To be honest, we only found each other through him. He was a childhood friend of Tico (Torres, drummer) and brought Richie (Sambora, lead guitarist) to see us play. Alec was always wild and full of life.”
Keyboarder David Bryan also tweeted: “It was an honor and a pleasure to share the stage and life with you”.

Alec Jon Such came to Bon Jovi in a roundabout way – first booking them (then called Jon Bon Jovi & The Wild Ones) for his club in Sayreville, New Jersey, and then joining them as bassist.

After leaving in 1994, Such was replaced by Hugh McDonald, who only became a full member of Bon Jovi in 2016.
