On November 25th, EVÎN released their second EP IT WASN’T EVEN FOR YOU. In six songs she deals with themes such as flight, belonging and loss. Only in April of this year did she release the EVÎN EP named after her.
EVÎN combines R&B and soul with the sound of their Kurdish roots and sings on the song “Golden Days” about the golden days of the past, when they laughed and danced, but which in retrospect weren’t so perfect. On the song “Yarê” she wrestles with the feeling of self-doubt and self-hatred on the one hand and self-love and trust on the other. She is looking for stability. “If I run or try to save myself / need to figure it out for myself / need to confirm it for myself / as long as that’s the case, I’m okay,” she sings on the song “Yarê”. For the two songs, which are currently the only ones with a music video, she was on the road in Istanbul – for “Devotion” she uploaded a visualizer. In the song, she explores confusing “devotion with love” or “kindness with honesty” and asks “what does that say about me?”
EVÎN completed her singing studies in Dresden and describes her team in the following words: “Jakob plays drums, produces and mixes really hard, Karl plays the guitars and keys, takes super cool photos and videos.”
