Earlier in an interview with The Telegraph Evgeniy expressed all his concerns about his aunt. He then said: For me she has become the symbol of the many old people who have become trapped there. Physically and mentally. Physically, because the bridges are no longer passable or roads are too dangerous to flee over, especially if you are vulnerable. And she is, because she takes care of her mother-in-law who has difficulty walking. She can’t even go to the bomb shelter. In addition, she does not want to leave, because she refuses to leave her precious homeland.”
The former football player and his wife, Victoria Koblenko, both of Ukrainian descent, have been committed to raising money for the victims since the beginning of the war. Also, they both regularly appear on talk shows to talk about the situation.
