The Spanish series “Money Heist” is one of the most internationally successful Netflix series of all time. The last episodes have been available on the streaming platform since December 2021. Fans of the conspicuously masked group around the criminal mastermind known as “Professor” can not only look forward to the spin-off of the character “Berlin”. The streaming service has been planning a remake of the material for some time. After this project was quiet for a while, a teaser is now causing a stir. In it we not only see impressive pictures of the South Korean adaptation of “Heist of Money”, the start date is also revealed. The series is coming sooner than expected!
When is the Money Heist remake coming to Netflix?
There will be a total of twelve episodes in the adaptation. Even if a remake so soon after the original is unusual, the enthusiasm for the project is great. The South Korean setting has also been very popular so far.
In the recently released first teaser, we finally see when the series is due to appear. A release is already planned for June 24, 2022! The spoken lines in the teaser then immediately awaken “money house” feelings again:

While the teaser itself doesn’t reveal much, Netflix goes into more detail in the accompanying press release. Firstly, it explains the mask shown in the teaser. This is a so-called Korean Hahoe mask, which is associated with a long tradition. This also reveals the secret of the announcement trailer, in which the new “Professor” reaches for a mask next to the well-known Dalí mask.

The enigmatic professor assembles a team of thieves from both the north and south to steal the newly minted coins just before Korea’s reunification.

In the “Money Heist” remake we get an exciting setting at the time of a fictional reunification of Korea. Just like in the mother series, it will probably also be about a socially critical aspect. Well-known characters such as the “Professor”, “Berlin” and “Tokyo” will return – newly cast – played by well-known actors such as Yoo Ji-tae (including “Oldboy”).
