Bassist of the band Elonkerjuu Antero Naaliproperly named Marko Anttila, died yesterday, Friday. Anttila was 53 years old when he died. Manager of the Elonkerjuu band Timo Niemi says that both the band and Anttila’s family hope for peace in the midst of grief.

– What the band has written in the obituary is really all that needs to be said about it. The band does not focus on thinking about the band’s future in the midst of sadness, making plans for the future is not relevant now.

The Elonkerjuu band published Anttila’s obituary earlier today. The article says that Anttila passed away due to a rapidly progressing illness.

– We are all shocked by how quickly things have progressed. Back in October, Ana was in the call queue. Sorsanpesä’s gig at Seinäjoki was unfortunately the last one. This cannot be taken as true. For decades we have played and experienced life together. A man was taken from our lives far too soon. Too many laughs, songs and stories were not seen and experienced, on the band’s Facebook page will be written.

The band’s manager Timo Niemi says that the band does not want to comment on Anttila’s illness or its progression in more detail, but according to him, everything happened very quickly during the past autumn. Ilta-Sanom according to Elonkerjuu, a musician played bass at the gigs held in November Jussi Haavisto.

Niemi says that he talked with Anttila for the last time in the band’s discussion group at the end of autumn. The knowledge of his death stopped Nieme completely.

– My main memory of him is his smile. He was an important member of the band both as a player and also as a person, says Niemi.
