It could only be one – and now it will be! Edin Terzic takes over as the successor to the sacked Marco Rose as head coach at Borussia Dortmund. BVB officially confirmed this on Monday afternoon.
While the 39-year-old only took over as an interim coach until the end of the 2020/2021 season, but then ended a strong second half of the season by winning the DFB Cup, he is now installed as a long-term solution on the Borussia Dortmund coaching chair.
As the black and yellow announced in their official statement, Terzic should sign a contract with BVB on Tuesday until June 30, 2025.
Terzic worked as technical director at Borussia Dortmund last season and therefore no longer needs any real adjustment time with the Westphalian when it comes to the coming Bundesliga season in June.
Another BVB coaching team will be announced
“By now, many people should be aware of the special importance that BVB has in my life. I would therefore like to thank Aki Watzke, Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl for the great trust and the transfer of this great responsibility. Every day we will do everything for the success of the team and the entire club,” said the old and new BVB coach on the Dortmund club website about the joint decision with the BVB bosses to tackle the long-term as head coach of the German runners-up.
The designated sports director and successor to Michael Zorc, Sebastian Kehl, also commented on the important personnel decision at Westphalia on Monday: “We had several intensive discussions with Edin Terzic last weekend and are convinced that this personnel decision is the best for BVB Edin knows our club, the environment, a large part of the team and knows what adjustments we want to make in order to be able to offer our fans successful football.”
As things stand, it has not yet been finally clarified with which other coaching team Edin Terzic will start his work with the BVB professionals. “Within the next few days” there should be clarity about this, reported Dortmund’s Borussia.
