The Moscow TV audience of Vladimir Putin’s address to the Russians on the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics amounted to 3.3 million people

More than 3.3 million Muscovites watched live TV address of President Vladimir Putin to the Russians on the recognition of the independence of the DNR and LNR. This follows from the preliminary data of the research company Mediascope, received by RBC. In total, the broadcast was watched by 22.4% of the residents of the capital, the audience share was 67.8%.
For comparison, Putin’s address following the results of the referendum in Crimea on March 18, 2014 gathered 1.7 million Muscovites at the screens. The broadcast rating then was 12.6%, the audience share was 62.1%. However, the appeal in the DPR and LPR came out in prime time – from 21:40 to 22:36 Moscow time, while the Crimean one – in the daytime, from 15:04 to 15:50 Moscow time.

Mediascope’s calculations for the appeal in connection with the recognition of the independence of the DNR and LNR take into account the broadcasts aired by Channel One (1.4 million viewers in Moscow), Rossiya 1 (645.3 thousand), Channel Five (352.2 thousand .), NTV, Russia 24, Mira, Zvezda, Ren-TV, Moscow 24 and 360. Another 41,300 residents of the capital watched the president’s speech on repeat on Moscow 24. The cumulative coverage — that is, the number of people who watched the appeal for at least one minute — across all broadcasts amounted to 4.4 million.
IN youtube channel and on the RBC website, more than 72,000 people watched the live broadcast at the same time, after the video version of the appeal was watched more than 520,000 times.
