In 2021, 8,952 drivers in Flanders were caught driving too fast every day. This is according to figures from the federal police. Viewed over a full year, this concerns more than 3 million speeding violations, an increase of 15.9 percent compared to 2019. The Flemish Foundation for Traffic Science (VSV) and Minister of Mobility Lydia Peeters (Open VLD) have now – on the day of the speed camera marathon – launched a new awareness campaign against speeding in primary school De Knipoog in Vilvoorde.
