Everton parted ways with Russian sponsors

London (AP) – The English football club FC Everton has cut its ties to several Russian companies as sponsors.

“The club can confirm that it has terminated all commercial sponsorship deals with Russian companies USM, Megafon and Yota with immediate effect,” the statement said. “Everyone at Everton is shocked and saddened by the appalling events that are taking place in Ukraine.” The founder of the holding company USM Alisher Usmanov is on a sanctions list of the European Union.

Megafon and Yota belong to USM. The English Premier League club Manchester United had previously said goodbye to the Russian state airline Aeroflot as a sponsor.
