Evert Santegoeds is not happy that his colleague Bram Moszkowicz unexpectedly became angry during the live broadcast of Shownieuws. “I would have liked to know that in advance.”
Bram Moszkowicz became unexpectedly irritated on Tuesday evening at the Shownieuws desk, namely after a report about the men of Today Inside and their appearance in the Christmas promo of SBS 6. The fallen criminal lawyer wants John de Mol, the football analyst, to be banned from that Christmas commercial because of his controversial statement about Jews.
Slip Johan
Shortly after the terrorist attack on Israel, Johan shouted on television that ‘the Jews kind of asked for it’, but an evening later – after fierce criticism from outside – he corrected himself. He did not mean the Jews, but Israel: “Well, Israel brought it upon itself. The Jews in general do not. That’s right.”
Johan, who sympathizes with the Palestinians, finds it silly that he is immediately portrayed as an anti-Semite. He responds in the Today Inside from last night: “I’m an anti-Semite again. But yeah, I’m getting a little tired of it. I don’t even get angry about it or anything, because if you mention the name Jews you are already an anti-Semite.”
‘They’ll get you right away’
It is very touchy, says Johan. “I said immediately after that brutal Hamas raid: ‘But the Jews also asked for it a bit.’ I should have said, ‘Israel kind of asked for it.’ I thought that was very appropriate, but then Frits Barend immediately shouts: ‘Oh, my grandson is also responsible!’”
He continues: “Then I think: yes, they know when I say Jews in a war in Israel, that it is about those people? That’s where they arrest you, but I still think that if you oppress a country for generations and really use and approach those people like animals, with fences around them, then at a moment they start behaving like animals.”
Evert also pissed
Hamas has now done that, according to Johan. “Isn’t it fair to say that you think Israel is behaving like a bunch of war criminals? Relative to the Palestinians now. Then let me be an anti-Semite.”
Not only Johan appears to be annoyed by Bram’s outburst, but also his direct Shownieuws colleague Evert Santegoeds. He doesn’t like the fact that Bram had not discussed this before the broadcast: “I’m not telling you anything new that you always go through such a program in advance, but this came completely out of the blue.”
A bit uncomfortable
Evert late in the podcast Strictly Private it turns out that he doesn’t think this suits Shownieuws. “I called him when I got home. Yes, he can’t handle that either… There is nothing going on between us, but I would actually have preferred to know that he was planning to say this and it now came completely out of nowhere.”
And what’s the problem with that? “That’s a bit uncomfortable in a Shownieuws-like program, so you better be prepared for it. (…) No, this was not the ideal Shownieuws moment.”
It now becomes clear why Evert reacted so strangely to Bram during the broadcast and cut him off; the Private Boss cannot deal with improvisation. Fortunately, host Dyantha Brooks managed to save this sensational TV moment…
