Johan Derksen has never gone off so badly on television as last week during his bizarre discussion with Angela de Jong. The opinion diva of the AD showed the football connoisseur all corners of the room and Johan? He was left with the baked pears. And with lasting image damage, says Evert Santegoeds in his podcast Strictly Private.

Not alert anymore

When asked how long Johan can last, Evert answers: “Well, last week he had a slip that I think: geez, Johan… Angela de Jong wasn’t good. Then you can see that he is not completely alert. He will get away with it, ‘because it is Johan Derksen’, but that is a dent in the image, I think, if you are talking nonsense like that.”

Image damage or not: Johan is the savior of SBS 6. “Yes, you can’t ignore that, of course. It stands at a beautiful moment in the evening and everything is programmed around it. The person who came up with the idea of doing it every day is Marco Louwerens. I thought: that is very much a good thing, but he was right.”

mega hit

Today Inside is a mega hit, no matter how often Johan slips. “They came back at the beginning of January and immediately everyone was ready again. It’s a hit and it will remain a hit for now.”

What if one of the VI men calls it quits? “Then you see it collapse. They also say: if one falls off, then they all stop, but I have yet to see if it is indeed the case in due course. I think it is a unique trio and that often produces very nice television, I must say.”

Excuses

Johan’s slip is also briefly discussed in the latest AD Media podcast. Manuel Venderbos, who works for Shownieuws just like Evert, says that Johan came up with a ‘kulargument’ during his discussion with Angela. Johan blames her for writing down that a report had been filed against Johnny de Mol.

Angela responds: “I expected him to come up with all sorts of things, but he just came up with a fact that I had neatly written down. People have been able to see it and I think he, that’s how I take it, apologized nicely the next day, so fine. Well, on the air, about him not having a good day. No, that was right.”
