The possible departure of the men from Today Inside holds the stars of SBS 6 in their grip. Will they really run off and then the whole house of cards will collapse? “Could be.”
The Dutch television world is under the spell of a possible transfer of Johan Derksen, René van der Gijp and Wilfred Genee. They are the mainstay of SBS 6, but according to the former program director of that channel, Tina Nijkamp, are heavily underpaid. According to her, they should get at least 2.5 million euros the man.
‘Not realistic’
Wilfred is currently approaching 1 million and his colleagues are slightly below that, but according to RTL Boulevard they can now ask ‘the stars of heaven’. RTL could get the men back by putting a mega offer on the table and killing two birds with one stone: bringing in a viewing figure giant and forcing SBS to its knees.
Will RTL wave a total of 7.5 million euros? Private boss Evert Santegoeds: “These are of course not realistic amounts, I think. Yes, there are three, right? Then you’re talking about 7.5 million in salaries for that couple alone. They do perform, but I don’t think it’s a very realistic amount.”
Wishful thinking
Although TV connoisseur Rob Goossens finds Tina’s figures credible, and Aran Bade also thinks that the gentlemen can get much more, Evert is not convinced.
Evert continues in the podcast Strictly Private: “It is Wilfred who does all that for them, eh, the negotiations. Who always drags the bottom out of the can. And that bottom of the can, that got stuck at under one million. So 2.5 seems like a bit to me wishful thinking for everyone.”
Back to RTL?
Podcast host Jordi Versteegden wonders what the VI trio will do. “But there is a chance that they might talk to RTL now that the merger is not going ahead?”
Evert emphatically does not rule that out. “Yes, that would be possible.”
Jordi: “Do you think that…”
Evert: “Well, then RTL will earn money with it, but then De Mol will save another 7.5 million. So you start with that.”
Jordi: “Yes, exactly.”
Smells money
Incidentally, Evert now also smells money. “Yesterday we had a higher market share with Shownieuws. That also offers me opportunities.”
René van der Gijp has also indicated that he does not want to switch to a streaming service, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.
