For more than 30 years, Liederbuch Zwickau has stood for the promotion of young musicians and many interesting live concerts by national and international artists from the popular and less popular musical styles of our time. The spectrum ranges from jazz, blues, soul and gospel to singer-songwriters, folk and world music to rock and pop.
Anyone who has experienced one of our SOUND BARBARA concerts knows that you cannot download this atmosphere.
It is not uncommon for far-travelled guests to stand on and in front of our concert stage. With our events, we also build bridges of understanding between people of different backgrounds, educational backgrounds and worldviews. Songbook connects them to each other. In our regular jam sessions and workshops, we encourage young people to engage with art and culture. We also support projects of other music and art lovers with our know-how and give these initiatives support.
The more than 70 members of our association do their work on a voluntary, unpaid basis. This is the only way to achieve the low admission prices we always strive for for our events and the free workshop participation for the participants. In the last 2 years we have invested a lot in the expansion of our main venue – St. Barbara – in Lichtentanne. Thanks to the considerable time and financial commitment of our members, friends, sympathizers and sponsors, a concert stage was created here that meets all professional requirements and, thanks to its ambience, is rarely unparalleled, not only in the Zwickau area.
But Liederbuch also organizes in other no less attractive locations in and around Zwickau. The Zwickau Lutherkeller and Schönfels Castle, the Zwickau Reconciliation Church, il Tavolino in Zwickau and the Christ Church in Lichtentanne and Planitz Castle also belong to the pool of songbook venues.
We have already achieved a lot. Maintaining and expanding this is the motivation for our work.
