Event tip: Ramones tour manager Monte A. Melnick and cartoonist John Holmstrom in conversation

The short, ultra-fast punk songs by the New York band Ramones are legendary. Pieces like “Rocket To Russia”, “Blitzkrieg Bop” or stoic lyrics like: “First rule is ‘The laws of Germany’, second rule is, ‘Be nice to mommy’, third rule is, ‘Don’t talk to commies ‘, fourth rule is ‘Eat kosher salamis’ are characterized by the anarchic humor of the long-haired leather-jacketed crew, who – like the Lucky Luke opponents from the comic The Daltons – all had the same (artist) surname: Ramones.

Dee Dee died of a heroin overdose in 2002, Johnny died of prostate cancer in 2004, and Tommy Ramone, who became a bluegrass musician, also died of cancer in the bile duct in July 2014. But her legacy lives on.

This is also ensured by the Ramones Museum in Berlin, which, together with the Neukölln music pub “Posh Teckel”, invites you to what is sure to be a very entertaining talk show: Ex-tour managers are at the start Monte A Melnick and John Holmstrom, artist and editor at PUNK Magazine. The questions are posed by the competent keeper of all the band’s artfully torn jeans, Flo Hayler from the Ramones Museum.

Advertised are the Ramones historian’s knowledgeable questions on the best pods and riot stories from the early days of NYC punk through the 1990s. Hayler will quiz his talk partners on key moments from Ramones’ wild life and share rare photos and artifacts from his collection.

Monte A. Melnick and John Holmstrom are happy to answer questions from old and young Ramones fans about the “PUNK subject”. They will also be autographing their amazing books, which will be available at the obligatory book table that evening.

The whole party starts today Tuesday (July 19) at 7 p.m. in Berlinnamely in the Posh Teckel in the Pfluegerstraße 4. Admission is free, so you can invest the penunse saved in cool beers, which will certainly be necessary on this midsummer evening. Visit the Ramones Museum website for more information.
