Even the Rolling Stones say goodbye to Gottschalk and “Wetten, dass ..?”

The Stones didn’t make it into Thomas Gottschalk’s last “Wetten, dass ..?” broadcast – but they did send a message of greeting.

Thomas Gottschalk also didn’t manage to get the Rolling Stones into his three-hour show for his (supposedly!) last “Wetten, dass ..?” broadcast (Saturday, November 25th). But: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood sent a video greeting to Offenburg. The three laughing men seemed pretty tipsy as they pushed their way into the foreground one after the other to send their “Sorry, we couldn’t make it…” message to the moderator. After a minute they had already faded out when Keef mumbled something into the camera.

It would also have been too nice: The Stones play one of their songs from the 2023 album “Hackney Diamonds” to pay tribute to the German show titan. The musicians are not averse to Gottschalk. In 2001, for example, Mick Jagger presented his two solo songs “Vision of Paradise” and “God Gave Me Everything” on “Wetten,dass..?”.

In this year’s edition of the betting show, actor Jan Josef Liefer announced the Rolling Stones as a surprise that Thommy supposedly knew nothing about. Gottschalk also left the band’s short video appearance surprisingly cold. Instead, a “That was probably something for the old white men” comment, which is now to be expected from him, as pessimistic as the Bavarian is these days.

On “X” there are somewhat amusing comments about the performance of the band, whose members are around ten years older than Thomas Gottschalk.

“So compared to them #RollingStones are the boys from #TakeThat “aged very, very badly!” writes one.

#Bet that has been on a farewell tour for almost as long as that #RollingStones“, writes another.

“At a time when the… #Beatles and #RollingStones top the charts, too #Bet that and Thomas #Gottschalk an authorization,” says another user.
